The main difference between oils and acrylics is their drying time. Acrylic paint will dry within an hour whereas Oil paints will stay wet for several days or a week that totally depends upon the humidity and temperature.

Mixing acrylics is more difficult than mixing oils because before mixing acrylics, they already began to dry.  But with oils, you can mix colors for days.  

Mark Marcula Stauffer suggested that if you are a beginner in the field of painting than began your painting with oil painting as oil painting is less complicated than acrylic painting.

He further added that whether you are using oil painting or acrylic painting, the most important decision of your painting is deciding on a subject that needs to be drawn on a canvas and for the beginner painters; the easiest way to start painting is to draw an image.
